Mozambique s emblem includes an AK47 with a bayonet attached, as a representation of defence and vigilance , mirrored by a hoe representing agricultural and peasantry . The cog wheel represents labour and industry, the book education, and the corn stalk and sugar cane represent the nation s agricultural wealth. The star symbolizes the the spirit and international solitary of the Mozambican people, and the sun of building a new life.
